Your daily practice - sadhana- is the key to accessing what yoga has to offer. Sessions with me are where this starts, then I help along the way as your technique, curiosity and desires grow. Where you are headed cannot be conceived of now. It is a journey into the unknown. Into the Self.
who am i?
My passion for yoga stems from searching for a solution to chronic back pain which arrived in my early 30s. Turns out it wasn’t an injury or any kind of physical ailment, but a manifestation of stress, depression and a way of living wholly unaligned with my true self. It is no exaggeration to say yoga saved me.
Have I trained? Yes, diligently. With SONICYOGA at the 200 hour level and HATHAVIDYA at the 500. What does that mean? A lot, and very little. It means a lot as I spent time learning from some remarkable teachers in NYC, Guatemala and Miami and I am grateful to them. It also means very little as one really only becomes a teacher through committed study after training is over, along with experience actually teaching. I’ve been at this 15 years and have spent many thousands of hours teaching group classes to some of the most intense and fiercely dedicated yogis in the world- those that are found grinding it out on the usually uneven and creaking hardwood floors of NYC. Really it’s these people who’ve taught me how to teach. I’m also a Yoga Alliance E-RYT500/ YACEP, if that means anything to you.
Group classes are one thing. Popular conception holds that they are yoga. To me they are side hustle and an amusing diversion from real teaching. I engage long term— often years— with clients seeking to go very deep into this practice- the physical and the spiritual- for its own sake, with an open heart and a willingness to discover hidden aspects of themselves and the world around them. The other side of this are my clients whose challenges include chronic pain, stress, depression, addiction, Multiple Sclerosis, neuropathy, heart arrhythmia and high blood pressure. Why do these relationships go on so long? Because my clients have a partner in me, in their self-discovery, which tends to never get old.
I’ve taught innumerable workshops related to hathayoga in NYC and spent over 10 years on SONICYOGA’s 200 & 500HR Teacher Training Faculty, specializing in philosophy, asana and pranayama.

Because it is the most important physical exercise in all of yoga. We’re not learning to “control” it, we’re learning to expand it. It also gives the mind an elevated focus, above the normal business that holds sway. This brings presence, dare I say (ugh)mindfulness.
-
Because you aren’t present in it. I can halp with that.

When you become committed. Committed to you.
